It was a sweltering Friday, but that did not stop people from enjoying the West Broadway Farmers Market in North Minneapolis. Hula hooping and water-spraying fans kept the kids entertained, while the adults savored the Fried Green Tomatoes made in the cooking demonstration. And MCCD was there to spread the information on affordable homeownership and our OwnAHomeMN.org website.
North Minneapolis has been one of the hardest hit neighborhoods during the ongoing foreclosure crisis, but MCCD wanted to ensure its residents that homeownership can still be a viable option. Many of Own A Home’s partners have rehabbed homes located in North Minneapolis and list them on OwnAHomeMN.org at affordable prices. OwnAHomeMN.org also has links for homebuyer education classes and homebuyer incentive programs such as down-payment assistance.
MCCD has been present at numerous community events this summer promoting Own A Home, including the Hmong Freedom Celebration on July 1st and Rondo Days on July 21st. MCCD will continue to have informational tables about OwnAHomeMN.org in the next coming weeks. We will be at the Midtown Global Market on Monday August 13th from 11am to 2pm and will be at the Midtown Farmers Market on Tuesday August 14th from 3pm to 7pm. If you or anyone you know is thinking of buying a home in the Twin Cities area come check out our table! If you can’t make it on one of those days explore http://ownahomemn.org/ to find out more information on affordable homeownership.
